The weekend

We took the kids to two parties this weekend. Saturday we went to my friend Shannon's house, where the kids had a blast (see pics below). On Sunday we had Ange and Nate and Timmy, Kristen and Jacob over for pizza before going to our local fire house for a party, (sorry no pics for that one). Which was a dud for the parents but the kids had an ok time. It was just to chaotic for my liking. And yes, the kids did get to have some candy, I'm not a total scrooge. Ryleigh has a new costume because she put a hole in her fairy wings last week. As she would say she is a "good witch not a bad witch". So I guess now it's on to the next holiday, only one more then it's Christmas, yeah!!!!!!!

It's back

We had our first snow of the season last night. It seems we skipped fall and went directly to winter. All the leaves haven't even changed yet. There really wasn't that much where we are but the kids were still excited about it. Cole wanted to put on all his snow gear and ride his four wheeler this morning, but he had to go to school. The snow is all gone already so they are a little disappointed, but rest assured there will be more coming soon.

Buffalo

I decided last mintue to go with my mom to Buffalo this past weekend to visit my little sister in college. Despite the crappy weather and long ass ride, we had a good time. I left my house at 7am met my mom in Amsterdam at 8:30 and we arrived in Buffalo about 12ish. After picking up Nikki we went and ate lunch at subway...mmmm turkey and bacon subs yummy. There was not much going on on her campus which was a little odd seems how it was parents weekend so we decided to go to Niagara Falls. Yes, in the freezing cold rain. It ended up being alot of fun. Things seem to be so much more fun when they are not planned. We had a nice dinner at Applebees then went to Walymart. The store in Buffalo has sooooo much more christmas stuff than ours. I am thinking that we need to plan another trip out just to go back for christmas stuff ( and I'm not kidding). LOL? So then after looking at each and every christmas item in the store we went back to the room and went to bed. I made them get up at 8 so we could do something else before dropping Nikki off and heading home (I am pretty sure I will not be invited on the next trip for this, lol). We decided to go to the outlet mall in Niagara, which ended up being a good decision, there were a couple of good sales going on. I really liked the mall setting because it was still raining outside. We dropped Nikki off, said our goodbyes and headed for home. We followed some drivers from NJ and Conneticut and made it to Amsterdam in record time.
Poor Cole has an ear infection which started on friday but he is getting better. The doctor looked in the ear that hurts and said yup it's all red in there. Then she looked in the other ear and asked me if he had a tendency to put things in his ear, to which I replied "No, why?". She says "Because there is something yellow in there". "Really?" I say, a little dumbfounded. She tried to get whatever it was out but couldn't. So now I have to put peroxide in his ear to try and soften things up and hope it flushes out. I looked in there and it looks like a piece of corn to me, so now instead of saying he has potatoes in his ears we say he has corn.LOL It doesn't bother him at all, but I still hope it comes out soon...whatever it is.

Don't move a muscle.

Yesterday I went up to our apartment buildings to do some yard work. Boy, am I regretting it now! My back and arms are so sore, I don't want to move. Who knew raking leaves could be such hard work,LOL. Of course, having Ryleigh run through my piles and spreading them around again and again didn't help. I also rearranged my living room furniture and mowed our lawn right after so that might have had some effect on my poor muscles. I really didn't think I was that out of shape, what a wake up call. I think now would be a good time to use my gift certificate to the day spa.Yiiiipppppy!

Cole had his first friend from preschool come over today. It was so cute and they were sooo excited. We got chinese for lunch and they stayed for a couple of hours. Her mom and I talked while the kids played. It turns out that they live only 2 houses up the road from us. They already want to have a sleep over, but we will see, I don't know if they are ready for a co-ed sleepover. Actually, now is probably the time to do it, it's when they get older and want to have a sleep over that i'll have worry. It's so cool to see your children make friends. (sigh)Ahhh, they grow up fast! I was looking at Ryleigh's baby pictures, and granted she is only two, but it seems so long ago. It all happened so fast and she has changed soooo much just in a year. I think part of it is that she seems older than two. Her vocabulary and thought process are incredable, Cole's teacher even commented on it. I am hoping that they will allow her to go to preschool there next year. Not that I am pushing her but i really think she would benefit from it. Especially with Cole going to be in kindergarden all day, she needs to learn to be around other children.

It's actually nice outside so we are going to go out and play for a little while now.Bye

A cold and blustery day

It finally stopped raining long enough to go outside on sunday so we went to the pumpkin patch and froze our hineys off, but it was fun anyway. Aunt Kari, Uncle Ian, Scott and Nana all went with us. The kids were excited about getting pumpkins. Cole wanted a big huge one and Ryleigh wanted a little baby one, so that's what they got. Scott won a pumpkin doing the water balloon sling shot, Mike tried real hard but did not succeed.I posted a couple of pics under this post and added more to the flickr on the side.Little miss Ryleigh is sick so I am going to try and get her a dr. appointment today. I also have the dish network people coming out to fix our satelite dish finally. I do not like having a satelite, but that's what you get when you live in the middle of nowhere. Why is it ok for them to give you a four hour period of when they might arrive? And then say if they go over that period of time that we as a customer have to arrange our day accordingly to stay later if neccesary? Does this seem wrong to anyone else? Oh well, i'm off to call the doctors office.

Rain Rain Go Away!

I feel like it's been raining forever! How am I supposed to enjoy all the foliage if the rain knocks down all the leaves! We didn't get to go apple picking because of the weather and i'm hoping this weekend is better so we can go to Liberty Ridge Farm. They have a huge corn maze and animals and little make shift farm rides for the kids. The poor kids haven't been able to go outside and play in a week, I think they (we) are going a little stir crazy. They need fresh air! I am sure the fire wood we have is now soaked right through because we didn't cover it. So now on these cold damp days I can't even get a nice fire going.
I went to see Anna Nalick with Kristen and one of her friends from work. It was pretty good, although I had woken up that morning with a sinus infection, which kind of dampened my mood. But, we enjoyed it anyway. Her friend Mike is in the market for a little booty, so Kristen and I took it upon ourselves to pick out some chickies for him. His fiance broke off thier engagement 1 month before the wedding, nice huh? I can't even imagine. He seemed like a nice guy, but you know what they say about nice guys, they always finish last. That was a year ago and now he is ready to date again. I don't know about any of you, but I don't ever want to date again ( which i'm sure my husband likes to hear). But really, there are just to many psychos and who wants to have to weed them all out? And to have to do the bar scene again, no thanks!
I thought I would try something new with my hair. That was a stupid thought! My sister came home from college this weekend and she had used this new mousse color that washes out and it looks great! Silly me thinks..that's a great idea! HAHAHAHA I now have orange, and i'm not kidding, it's ORANGE hair. Thank goodness it washes out! So much for trying something new. Next time i'll leave it to the profesionals!

New Look

As you can see I have changed the look of my blog, a little, do you like it? I feel like it's more appropriate for this time of year. Even though it's been in the upper 70's and low 80's the past three days I can feel fall coming! The leaves are starting to change and this weekend the weather is supposed to change as well. I feel so alive and rejuvenated in the fall. It's like while everthing around me is dying I feel like this is when I am most alive...if that makes any sense. My sister is coming home from college this weekend and we are going on our annual family apple picking outing. I can't wait for the warm apple-cider donoughts.....mmmmmmmm. It's alot of fun! Some of my aunts and cousins and grandmother all get together which is nice because we don't get to see each other all the time. I won tickets on the radio to go to Northern Lights tomorrow night to see Anna Nalick. Has anyone heard of her, because I haven't. Anyway my brother-in-laws girlfriend and I are going, it should be a blast (that is if she is any good). What am I saying... a night out w/o the kids and hubby....it's bound to be good!

Today I went to a parent meeting at Cole's school...and when I say meeting what I really mean is a bitching session. Actually it wasn't that bad, I met some of the other stay at home moms and we had a discussion on the things we liked about having kids and the things that we are struggling with. It's nice to have adults to talk to!! There is a woman from Cornell Cooperative Extension who leads the dicussions and provides us with some information on different situations. I think it will be nice to have a kind of support group to talk to and do things with. We meet at the school once a month while the kids are in class, and have coffee and refreshments and good dicussions. It's good to know I'm not alone! We all had pretty much the same concerns about raising our kids and being stay at home moms. Not that we don't get some form of enjoyment out of it, but it's not the easiest job in the world!

K- the kids are waking up from nap time. See ya
